Strategy Planning

In the ultimate competitive arena - warfare - they say: " strategy is for generals, tactics are for captains".

The General stands on the hillside overlooking the battle, taking a big picture view and directing major movements and commitments of resources. Meanwhile, the Captains are down on the battlefield, leading the troops into close quarters combat, in accordance with the strategies developed by the Generals.

Without strategy, any army will behave like a "headless chook".

Businesses, and organisations in general, are also competitive entities, locked into a constant struggle for survival and success. Consequently every business, from the smallest to the largest, needs an appropriate Strategic Plan to direct its efforts towards a desired end. These plans form (and result from) a shared vision for the future and a common sense of purpose and destiny.

Strategic Plans should not be locked up in the Proprietor's or in the Managing Director's head - they need to be formulated and disclosed, at least to trusted personnel within the business - to ensure that everybody is pulling in the same direction and to motivate the team to work together to achieve agreed goals.

Our Solutionists combine years of business consulting with expert facilitation, lateral thinking, creative problem solving and mediation skills to provide a uniquely effective, fully facilitated, Strategic Planning service.

Solutioneering the Strategy Planning Process

Strategic Planning is based on and is part of the process of refining the Visioning exercise. The plan is developed through an intense and tightly focused adaptation of the CONSEPS process that converts visions (dreams) into workable, documented, "big picture" plans.

Our Solutionists use facilitated retreats, usually for one or two days, to create a highly structured, challenging, dynamic environment where business owners and executive teams are encouraged and assisted to break through the boundaries imposed by their current understanding and perception of their business.

Through CONSEPS, participants develop new Strategic Plans that invariably project taking the business well beyond the self-imposed limitations of its current expectations.

Once agreement has been reached on the concepts, the new Strategic Plan is committed to writing so it can be developed into a Business Plan.

Benefits of Strategy Planning

A strong, credible, motivating, agreed Strategy Plan helps to grow any business or organisation further and faster than anything previously anticipated, all in an atmosphere of shared purpose and optimism.

The recombinant nature of the process outcomes raises both commitment levels and business and personal performance standards. At the same time, the strengthened sense of shared purpose and interest helps to prevent conflicts from arising within the business in the future.
