Code of Principles & Conduct
Our Vision
- To generate global interest in the principles and processes of Solutionism.
- To help people, organisations and governments become more skilful at solving their problems, managing their conflicts and resolving their disputes.
- To be recognised globally as the inventor, thought leader and most skilful exponent of Solutionism.
Our Mission
For individuals, businesses, organisations and governments:
- To provide knowledge, education and training in the principles and processes of Solutionism: to help people become more skilful at achieving optimal outcomes in all types of problem and conflict situation.
- To develop a group of skilful Solutionists: to provide expert, external Solutioneering support that helps people to produce optimal outcomes for most problems, conflicts and disputes, wherever they arise in the world.
Our Principles (and Values)
Solutionists are:
- Principled, ethical and value-driven.
- Independent, neutral and impartial.
- Highly skilled and thoroughly professional in their Solutioneering (where professional means responsible for ensuring that their work satisfies client needs and exceeds client expectations).
- Committed to promote and apply the principles and processes of Solutionism.
- Facilitators who help their clients to achieve optimal solutions in every problem, conflict and dispute situation.
- Highly effective problem solvers, conflict managers and dispute resolvers.
- Providers of exceptional value for money services to clients.
- Generous sharers of their knowledge and effective teachers of others in the principles and processes of Solutionism.
We believe that …
- Uncontrolled problems and complaints become dangerous problems and disputes.
- Dangerous problems and disputes become disastrous problems and conflicts.
- All individuals, businesses, organisations and governments should be able to solve their problems, manage their conflicts and resolve their disputes with integrity, transparency, trustworthiness and respect.
- Given the right interface paradigm, all problems, conflicts and disputes can be resolved in a spirit of mutual generosity, responsibility and accountability.
And that for every problem and conflict …
- An optimal solution can be developed and implemented.
- Optimal solutions are generated through principled approaches supported by collaborative, conscious, informed, enlightened processes - they simply don’t happen through chance, neglect or avoidance - and they often don’t happen through conventional profession approaches.
- The most appropriate principles and processes are contained in Solutionism.
- They are skilfully delivered by Solutionists through the process of Solutioneering.
For issues-based problems and conflicts …
- A proper analysis of the problem requires the systematic identification and de-construction of its essential issues and elements.
- All significant issues and elements should be identified and explained before any evaluation is attempted.
- Options for solving the problem / improving the situation are best generated through an expertly facilitated, option generation and (potential) solution design process.
- Solutions should be adopted as wise decisions. They utilize the options that work best in a designed solution - forming workable plans and agreed outcomes.
For relationship-based problems and conflicts ...
- Collaborative (interest-based) approaches produce better results than adversarial (conflict-based) approaches.
- Catalyst events are only symptoms of underlying causes. When analysed reflectively, they can point to the root cause of the problem.
- Durable solutions address underlying causes as well as surface level symptoms.
- Resolution and closure require adequate recognition and response to the problem’s story, reasons and personal consequences. Positions, rights and obligations are just surface-level constructs.
- “No” is usually negotiable - most situations can be improved through managed communication and competent problem solving processes.
- Most relationship-based problems and conflicts carry serious emotional baggage that require expert third party intervention – facilitation or mediation.
- When relationship problems (business or personal) go beyond the “point of no return” only a fool continues to try to solve it by him/her self.
For “impossible” problems ...
- With the arrival of Solutionism there is almost no such thing. After eliminating “the impossible”, what is left must be “possible”.
